Today, the Survey Center on American Life released a brand-new study: Generation Z and the Transformation of American Adolescence: How Gen Z’s Formative Experiences Shape Its Politics, Priorities, and Future. There’s so much more than I could reasonably summarize, but here are a few highlights:
Gen Z leans liberal, but not necessarily Democratic. They are far less likely than most older generations to say they grew up in a time of widespread political trust;
Whether it’s due to the pandemic, online gaming, or social media, Gen Z adults spent far less time hanging out with friends during their teen years than previous generations;
There is an emerging political divide between Gen Z men and women, especially over gender-related issues. Less than half of Gen Z men identify as feminists compared to more than six in ten…
